Oklahoma's largest PR firm in the news
Out and About: Video release on ballpark a home run
By Clytie Bunyan, The Oklahoman

A couple of months ago, a news release landed in my Inbox and created quite a buzz.

The folks at Schnake Turnbo Frank PR issued a video release — not the standard news release — featuring Chuck Lamson, the owner of the Tulsa Drillers (and the team’s mascot), walking in an empty field and inviting viewers to a news conference for "a special announcement” that afternoon.

It got my attention. And even though the cast made the promised announcement somewhat obvious, the release fueled anticipation about the event.

A follow-up video after the news conference was distributed announcing the name and location of a new stadium.

I’m sure it’s not the first time one was done, but it’s probably safe to say it was a first for this market. Hundreds of e-mails flood my inbox daily and none — even since — has been a video release.

Becky Frank, president and CEO of the Tulsa-based public relations firm, said, like many other businesses in the ever-changing media world, the PR field demands that companies be progressive in providing services to their clients.

"With these changes combined with the social media craze, it’s an exciting time in the public relations business and we have already found where our clients and our own business have benefited from this means of communications,” Frank said.

Brilliant move.
